I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this album. Having thought their debut was ok and their second album awful, I gave Cold War Kids third album the benfit of the doubt and gave it a listen, with low expectations. What I found was an album that was more focused and more confident than anything they’d done before. After the ramshackle indie of their debut and the stark lo-fi minimalism of the second album, Mine Is Yours boasts a more polished indie rock sound (when I saw polished I really mean it, it’s like it was recording in an arena). The songs sound big and anthemic, which you could sing a long too, but they still contain a personal touch like it was just for you. There are a few tracks which pass unnoticed, and the production might be a bit to polished and arena ready, but the album is mostly quite enjoyable. 7.5/10
