Text 9 Dec James Ether’s Best of Year Prelude

Like many music lovers in the world, I’ve compiled a list of albums which I think have been my favourites of the year. I found my music mojo again in 2011 after it seemed to decide to elope for fair portions of 2010, and doing this blog has been a major reason for that I feel. I’ve listened to 79 albums and 14 EP’s and the vast majority have been incredibly good, with only a few turning me off considerably. It’s been a very difficult process widdling down my list to 20 albums, but I think I’m there and I’ll publish the list next week.

But First! Whilst I have a definitive list for my year, there are a few albums I still have to mention, due to this year being so full of awesome albums. These all came very close to being included in my final list but just didn’t quite make it. You should definitely still check them out though:

Bright Eyes- The People’s Key
Anna Calvi- Anna Calvi
The Horrors- Skying
Los Campesinos!- Hello Sadness
Mogwai- Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
Twin Sister- In Heaven (yeah I know I only listened to it this week, but it was a contender dammit!
Tom Vek- Leisure Seizure
Yuck- Yuck

I’m going to do the best of the EP’s in a bit as that will only be a top 5. I’m probably going to do a short Bands to watch for in 2012 (mostly Manchester ones probably as I live here). So exciting blogs forthcoming!
